USAID to implement Water Management Project

USAID held a meeting with Tafileh charitable and cooperative associations to introduce them to its water demand management project.  The project’s director, Shadi Bushnaq, said the initiative will provide loans to NGOs and associations in order to empower local communities in meeting the challenges posed by water shortages. The project includes establishing rainfall reserves, restoring water harvesting constructions, such as the ancient Roman wells and pools, and undertaking maintenance work on irrigation pipelines. The USAID-funded initiative will be implemented with the cooperation of three local and international organisations: Mercy Corps, the Jordan River Foundation and the Royal Scientific Society, Bushnaq said, adding that it will cover all the Kingdom’s governorates.
