Greek Government participates in financing Red Sea-Dead Sea Canal project

 

Ambassador of Greece to Amman Troyphon Parakevopolos handed a letter to Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suheir Al-Ali from Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Evripidis Stylianidis.
The letter affirmed the Government of Greece commitment offer US$ 1 million to co-finance the feasibility study of the Red Sea-Dead Sea Water Conveyance Project.
The letter also noted the Greek Government intention to continue supporting Jordan in light of its leading role Jordan in the Middle East region.
This letter came as a follow-up procedure after the meeting that was held by Ali and Stylianidis in Amman last December, during which Ali highlighted the importance of this study and stressed the need pursue discussions with Greek official and gain their approval to help fund the project.
Ali appreciated Greek initiative and expressed her gratitude to the donor countries that participated in funding this study; including France, Netherlands, Japan, and the United States of America
