Water resources studies carried out in the Hisban-Kafrein area have
revealed that a potential exists for providing additional storage in the
existing Kafrein Dam in order to meet irrigation demands.

to the project was subsequently added. At present the total irrigated area
is 16,239 dunums. Recently, the project suffered from shortages of water
