Background
As a result of the Peace Treaty between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
and the State of Israel, several projects for the supply of, storage and
treatment of water were negotiated. Israel needs to supply an additional
50 MCM to Jordan in addition to the desalinated 10 MCM from saline
springs.
Objectives
The main objective of the project is to build the needed conveyance
systems to transfer the desalinated water to the urban areas.
Project Description
This project consists of pipelines of different diameters, pumping
stations, chlorinating units and telemetry system.
Project Status
The Israeli side is working on a plan to supply Jordan with the agreed
upon quantities. The JD100.0 million during the investment program funding
is under negotiating.
Estimated Cost
The total capital cost of the project is estimated at JD100.0 million.
According to the Jordanian plans, the construction of the project should
start in 2006 and continue for three years.
